Evan Bouchard 2025-26 Edmonton Oilers Alternate Game Worn Jersey
When the Oilers drafted Evan Bouchard 10th overall in 2018, the expectation was pretty clear: elite offensive upside, huge shot, high hockey IQ, and eventually, a cornerstone defenceman.
The only question was how long it would take.
Like a lot of young defencemen in Edmonton, Bouchard’s development wasn’t always perfectly smooth. There were stretches where fans wanted him playing more, stretches where people thought he needed less freedom, and stretches where every turnover somehow became national breaking news for a week.
Through all of it, the talent was impossible to ignore.
One of the biggest turning points in Bouchard’s growth came with Paul Coffey joining the Oilers coaching staff. Coffey immediately connected with him and delivered what might be the perfect summary of Bouchard’s game:
“As long as the good outweighs the bad, we’re going to be okay here.”
That mindset feels especially important with a player like Bouchard. You live with the occasional mistake because of everything else he brings. The breakout passes through traffic, the offensive zone control, the power play quarterbacking, the ability to create offense out of absolutely nothing.
Coffey himself has described Bouchard’s passing and offensive instincts as “as good as it gets,” which is not exactly casual praise coming from one of the greatest offensive defencemen in NHL history.
And honestly, the comparison doesn’t feel forced anymore.
Year after year, you could see the game slowing down for Bouchard. The puck control became calmer, the reads sharper, the confidence higher. What stands out most is how effortlessly he generates offense. Some players create chaos. Bouchard creates time.
If you only catch national highlights or social media clips, you mostly see the occasional turnover replayed ten times in slow motion. If you watch him every night, you see one of the smartest puck-moving defencemen in hockey controlling breakouts, handling pressure, eating huge minutes, and defending more with positioning and intelligence than brute force.
There’s a reason the Oilers trust him with the puck constantly.
Usually good things happen when he has it.
The Season
Bouchard’s 2025-26 season somehow managed to feel both historic and underrated at the same time.
He led all NHL defencemen in scoring with 95 points and became just the fourth defenceman in NHL history to record a 3-goal, 3-assist game when he exploded for six points on January 25, 2026.
And yet… no Norris Trophy finalist nomination.
That decision became one of the bigger debates around the league. Analysts called it a snub, fans called it ridiculous, and Oilers fans mostly just shrugged because we had already spent the season watching him dominate nightly.
The criticism always seemed tied to perception. Bouchard doesn’t play the traditional “safe” defensive style some voters prefer. His game is built around possession, transition, puck movement, and offensive control.
The funny part is that people talk about him like he’s some kind of defensive liability while he logs massive minutes, kills penalties, finishes +25, and drives play for one of the league’s best teams.
Apparently 95 points from the blue line still leaves room for debate.
The Jersey Style
The Oilers introduced this cream-colored alternate jersey in 2025-26, and it quickly became one of the fans favorite modern Oilers designs.
The cream base mixed with royal blue and orange gives it a clean vintage look without feeling overly retro or gimmicky. The scripted “Oilers” wordmark across the chest has an industrial, old workshop feel to it, while the hidden oil drop in the “s” is a nice subtle touch.
The shoulder patch featuring the oil derrick and “Oil Country” branding fits the overall concept perfectly. Even the small details — like the inside collar message and oil-drop hem tag — make the jersey feel thoughtfully designed.
It’s one of those jerseys that looked slightly unusual the first time I saw it, then somehow looked better every game after that.
The Jersey
This jersey was worn by Evan Bouchard during two games in December 2025.
December 6, 2025 — vs. Winnipeg Jets
The Oilers beat Winnipeg 6-2 at Rogers Place in one of those games where the offense never really slowed down.
Bouchard finished with a goal and an assist and was named first star of the game. Leon Draisaitl also had a goal and an assist, while Connor McDavid added two helpers.
Just another quiet multi-point night from a defenceman who apparently wasn’t one of the league’s top three.
December 23, 2025 — vs. Calgary Flames
The Oilers handled Calgary 5-1 in a game that quickly got out of hand for the Flames.
Draisaitl scored a hat trick, McDavid had five assists, and Bouchard added two assists of his own. By this point in the season, his offensive production had become so consistent that multi-point nights almost started feeling routine.
Almost.
Final Thoughts
I picked this jersey up through NHL Auctions on the exact same day the 2026 Norris Trophy finalists were announced.
Honestly, the timing felt appropriate.
I had wanted a Bouchard gamer for a while, and this one checked every box: alternate set, strong game use, multi-point performances, and from the season where he fully established himself as one of the NHL’s elite defencemen — whether the Norris voters agreed or not.
Maybe I’m biased because I watch every Oilers game.
But sometimes watching every game is exactly why the bias exists.
